Tasley has been called unattactive.
Well, it depends what criteria one uses. I found a lot of really nice
people there. They were all friendly, happy and busy.
The owner of this house, Mrs Burkhead, entertains people
from all over who stop and thank her for her beautiful yard.
Be sure to click on some of the pictures for details.
Below: the Eastern Shore Post, the Shore's only locally owned
and operated newspaper. Fair, honest and nonpolitical
- you can't beat that anywhere. |
Welcome
to
Tasley, Virginia

Tasley boasts one of the highest spots on the Shore.
The Route 13 overpass rises 70 feet +

The 'old' rubs elbows with the 'new'.

Remember Mrs. Birkhead? (hint:
see house photo above)
Talk about 'old' rubbing elbows with 'new'.
This nice lady also cares for a cemetary in her side yard.
It was there when she bought the property, she says, and she cares for it
as if they were her own relatives.

Some of the head stones date from 1870

People work here and I didn't meet anyone who wasn't smiling

And guess what! You can still get fresh veggies on the honor system.
You grab what you want and put your money in the basket.

Baskets and Bows does a landoffice florist business
out of their tiny shop. Super folks, beautiful flowers.

Also in Tasley, Virginia Art Castings, inc., a bronze foundry
The owner, Dana Martin, calls himself owner and janitor.
These hard working folks cast world class bronzes.
See pictures below.

First the small kiln melts the bronze, the guys cool the molds after the
pour and the crusible is still red hot.

When this bronze guy is welded together, he will be a 10 foot tall military
medic.
Hopefully I can get back for pictures to update the page.
