Locustville General Store
Probably about the same way as in the middle 1800s,
the Locustville General Store greets residents and strangers alike.

Welcome to

Store Update - 2006

Here's the new look the store is sporting.
It has a new owner and is now a restaurant.

The general store has been in operation since 1844 when it served passengers along the old stagecoach road. Its present owners, Wayne and Shirley Anderson, have most necessities in stock.

Also of service to the stagecoach crowd, the Locustville Hotel,
was established in 1820

In Locustville you can see the Corson House and the ancient American beech that graces its grounds.
The middle section of the Corson House was built in the middle to late 1700s and the front part dates from between 1830 to 1840.
And the magnificent beech watched it all.

In the Fall of 2003, Isobel hit the Shore causing much damage and one death that I know of. She also split off better then a third of this
beautiful beech tree. We were afraid for the tree's survival. I didn't even take any pictures of it 'til this September.
The guys did a very good job (see last picture above). What an enduring, wonderful creature this tree is.
